The Virginia State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation recently partnered with Quail Forever and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources on the Century Project, a multiyear effort taking place within the Flippo-Gentry Wildlife Management Area in Sussex County, Virginia. The Virginia NWTF State Chapter provided $25,000 from its Super Fund for longleaf pine restoration and brood range development. NWTF funding supported mulching 44 acres on the WMA following a timber harvest.

NWTF Virginia is offering seed blends to members at a reduced cost through its Seed Subsidy program, with multiple blends available now in your state! All seed offered through the subsidy program is certified fresh and will be delivered directly to the member’s door. Seed purchased through NWTF will result in acres being attributed to your state's total accomplishments.

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The Virginia NWTF State Chapter recently partnered with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources and the Virginia Department of Forestry to establish native open field habitats on Jack Mountain within the Highland Wildlife Management Area. The project will create diverse habitats for wildlife and improve conditions for future habitat management efforts.

This Fall we are offering Winter Wheat.  The rate will be $12 per bag to participate.  All pertinent information is provided in the link to answer questions you may have.  Tentatively, the seed is scheduled to arrive in VA on August 5th.  Seed quantities are limited this year, and a total of 420 bags are available to our members on a first come first served basis.  Do not delay submitting your request.  Last fall all bags were claimed in just over a week!

On March 22nd at the National Capital Area Chapter of the NWTF banquet, Isabelle Morissette was presented with the chapters scholarship for $500. She was then surprised and presented with the VA State Chapter scholarship for $2500!

The JAKES essay contest for 2024 was very overwhelming for our five judges this past year. The number and quality of the essays really made it difficult to select our top 3 essays for each age bracket. The final scores were very close. And the winners are:

EDGEFIELD, S.C. — The Virginia NWTF State Chapter recently met to review Hunting Heritage Super Fund project proposals for 2024 funding awards. After the reviewing and ranking process, proposals were presented to and approved by the Virginia State Chapter Super Fund Committee. The committee budgeted $211,300 for conservation projects, $98,000 for equipment and $42,950 for hunting heritage-related projects, including outreach-education events and chapter scholarships.
